A thriller based on the real-life Alaskan hunt for serial killer Robert Hansen in the eighties.
Written and directed by Scott Walker, it is based on the true story of a detective in Alaska, named as Sgt. Jack Halcome (Nicolas Cage) who is determined to end the killing of young women.
The serial killer Hansen (John Cusack) stalked and murdered around 20 young girls and women. He first kidnapped them and then took them out to the Alaskan wilderness where he shot and buried them.
The serial killer is a psychopath who has, since more than a decade, discreetly stalked the streets of Anchorage and picked up his victims.
Sgt. Halcombe now takes it upon himself to go on a personal manhunt to find the killer, as the bodies of Anchorage women start to add up.
It is only when a 17-year-old Cindy Paulson who had escaped Hansen’s unspeakable violence, and now she will lead this detective on his hunt for this psychopath killer who is hiding behind the veil of a happily married family man.
What is good about the film is that one instantly connects with the detective, and the performance of Cindy Paulson as the teenager who is out to make a few bucks, but then goes through a harrowing experience of her life. And she manages to escape !
Beautiful outdoor locales of Alaska, and the forest on the Anchorage outskirts.
A bit slow in pace, yet it manages to keep the viewer glued to watch the climax.
